The inspiration for this painting was a screenshot I took of a video that was published on YouTube on April 4th 2017. The video shows sisters and brothers who had been killed in Khan Shaykhun chemical attack on that day. I incorporated a number of written statements into the painting’s over-arching composition. Here, I pick out the terms related to the chaos of thoughts and imagination that was seething inside me when I first saw the images of this violent event, and also as I was producing this painting. The flood of colours spills out onto the painting which begins with the word 'war' at the right-hand side beginning of the painting and culminates with the word 'theatre' which has been written on the left of the painting.
