PALESTINE: REPAIR & RETURN - JAMAL’S STORY

  Share:

Thursday, 18th July 2024 | 19:00-21:30

This is a live online video conversation with Jamal Al Rozzi talking about his work as an organiser and manager. Jamal will describe how the structure of the organisation he works for fell apart in the first period of the war and how he and his colleagues re-established connection and rebuilt the operational structures in the new conditions of the ongoing genocide. They rebuilt their teams, found premises and started to serve people in need of support. He will talk about the organic link between medical and psycho-social support. This presentation will be followed by reflective conversation.

We will be joined by Hossam Madhoun and other activists involved in community organisation.

Az Theatre and Theatre for Everybody are seeking to develop the next stage of our joint project, GAZA: REPAIR & RETURN, using theatre in conjunction with other arts and skills to work with the communities of Gaza to repair lives, regenerate the environment and return people to where they want to live. Our first initiative on this was to hold a joint meeting with Architects for Gaza on February 28th 2024 at P21 Gallery. You should get in touch with Az if you are interested in participating in this project.

Jamal Al Rozzi and Hossam Madhoun are co-directors of Theatre for Everybody in Gaza with whom Az Theatre has been in partnership since 2009. As well as theatre artists, Hossam is a Child Protection Programme Manager and Jamal is CEO of an organisation that specialises in providing services for people with disability.
