SYMPOSIUM
PALESTINE: REPAIR & RETURN - THE PRISONERS' STORIES
Thursday, 15th August 2024 | 19:00-21:00
Featuring, in conversation, Salah Abdel Ati, Lawyer and Human Rights activist and Chair of the International Commission to support Palestinian Rights.
This event will present the experiences of abduction and mistreatment of Palestinian women, men and children, especially those who have been imprisoned in the period since October 7th.
What reparative processes can be used? What does this torture regime reveal about the character of the zionist regime?
There will be testimonies from former prisoners, either live or recorded. We will draw attention to the impact of imprisonment and torture on families and the wider community.
There will be participation from human rights workers including Salah Abdel Ati in Palestine and in the UK. We will engage with psychotherapeutic expertise to explore the deeper implications of what is happening.
This event is a part of our ongoing PALESTINE: REPAIR & RETURN, using theatre and creative space to explore how people can actively engage in reparative and regenerative processes.
Our focus is on listening to, and talking to, Palestinians. This is a key aim of the partnership between Az Theatre and Theatre for Everybody. We want to widen the our conversation to include other ‘skill and knowledge’ communities. Future events are planned about ‘Woman and Health’, ‘Teaching and Learning’, ‘Crisis of Water’.
