Film and Discussion with Haim Bresheeth Zabner

 

 

The evening will comprise a showing of Helena Aksentijevic's film about Haim Bresheeth Zabner, "Under the Rubble". In the film, the camera is turned on the filmmaker Bresheeth, where he explains the life events that shaped him - as a child in Occupied Palestine, as a young man in the IDF and as a Film student in London. Haim also gives his thoughts on the current genocide Israel is committing in Gaza and his hopes for the liberation of Palestine.


Following the film there will be a discussion between Haim and Luca Salice, co-chair of Camden PSc. This will be open to questions from the audience.

 

 

Haim Bresheeth-Žabner - Speaker
Professor Haim Bresheeth-Žabner is a filmmaker, photographer and author who has published extensively on cinematic history and Palestine. A founding member of Jewish Network for Palestine, Haim has been a political activist for over fifty years. His films include "A State of Danger" (1989) on the first Intifada, and and London Is Burning (2012) on the London 2011 disturbances. His books include "Introducing the Holocaust" with S Hood, (1993, 1997) and "An Army Like No Other: How Israel Defence Forces Made A Nation" (2020) Haim has written extensively for many publications, including Haaretz and Al-Ahram weekly.

 

Luca Salice - Moderator
Luca Salice is a translator and visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster. He has for many years been an activist with the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. He is currently co-Chair of Camden Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

 

Helena Aksentijevic - Filmmaker
Helena Aksentijević is a filmmaker and photographer. "Under the Rubble" is one of a series of documentary films about people who support the Palestinian people's right to a homeland, the right to return to their ancestral lands and live lives free from Occupation, oppression, apartheid and genocide.
