South Sudan Spoken Word
Saturday, 10th November 2018 | 15:00 - 15:45
With Akuc Bol, Becksy Becks and Tony Akaro
Akuc Bol is an actress and creative raised in London. She is currently studying BA Acting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, but has already worked in TV and theatre including 4 series on ‘The Dumping Ground’ (CBBC), ‘Doctors’ and ‘Casualty’(BBC). Akuc also writes poetry about issues that affect her as a woman, an African and a citizen of the world.
Becksy Becks is enigmatic in her simplicity. She is a poet by passion a dancer by dream who loves to laugh and to learn. Preferably in that order. From as far back as she can remember her dark skin has always been commented on. Although not all conversations were negative, she drew mainly on these aspects when creating poems, which were originally written as a spoken word piece.
Tony Akaro’s stage name is Poetry By Tony. He started writing poetry five years ago when his dad gave him the opportunity to perform at the African Union and since then he hasn’t looked back. Tony has written two books and released an EP since he started five years ago.
