P21 Gallery is pleased to present Palestine: Drawing, Documenting, Defying, a digital screen, mirroring how we are consuming the barrage of footage and documentation coming out of Gaza on our phones at break-neck speeds. This exhibition, curated by the Rada and Mutaz Sawaf Center of Arab Comics Studies at the American University of Beirut, showcases artworks of cartoonists, comics artists, and illustrators from Palestine and the Arab world, in an act of both celebrating Palestinian culture and documenting their past and current realities under 76 years of occupation. In their own styles and commentary, the artists’ works open the world up to narratives that defy mainstream media. This digital screen allows us to continuously update the roster as the genocide’s reality continues to evolve, and for this installation to travel far and wide in order to raise as much awareness as possible.

This intervention is meant to confront the viewer with the reality of what is happening right now, to assert the notion of a continued struggle, and to amplify the ever more urgent cry to end the genocide of the people of Gaza and the occupation of the people of Palestine.
