SPOTLIGHT ON PHOTOGRAPHY - ACTIVISM THROUGH THE LENS
Spotlight on Photography is a series of talks between Wayne campbell and a selection of photographers. They will touch on the personal, practical, technical and political aspects of their work. Each conversation will have its own unique flavour just as their work is visually unique.
SPEAKER
Wayne Crichlow, aka @chasingthelight_67, is an East London-born documentary photographer who uses his lens to explore protest, identity, and social justice. Inspired by Gordon Parks and Sebastião Salgado, he began with a bridge camera and now documents movements from Black Lives Matter after George Floyd’s murder to pro-Palestinian and anti-fascist marches—capturing powerful stories that champion the right to protest and amplify underrepresented voices.
As part of our photography spotlight series, we are honoured to have Wayne Crichlow here, to share some of his work. Wayne uses photography to amplify issues from Grenfell to Palestine, Just Stop Oil to anti-fascist marches.
Rooted in his East End heritage, his work documents resistance with honesty and urgency, spotlighting humanity where it’s often “hardly seen, always noticed.”
