As part of the P21 Film Club, we will screen the ITV documentary Ramadan: A Journey Across Britain, presented by Shehab Khan, Political Correspondent at ITV News. The film offers a moving portrait of how Muslims across the UK experience the holy month of Ramadan, travelling through different communities to explore faith, family, charity, and the shared rituals that bring people together from dawn to sunset.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with attendees, joined by Lucy Towers, the director and writer of the series, who will share insights into the making of the film and reflect on its themes and the diverse experiences of Ramadan across Britain.

Lucy Towers is an award-winning producer and director working on Channel 4 News’ digital documentary series Uncovered, and formerly with ITV’s foreign affairs programme On Assignment. With more than ten years’ experience across broadcasters and international news agencies, including ITV News, Channel 4 News, the Associated Press, and Reuters, she has reported and produced films from over 20 countries. Her work explores diverse global stories, from life beside New Delhi’s vast landfill to underground microchipping communities in Sweden.

Lucy has also worked as a freelance multimedia producer and video journalist reporting across the United States and the Middle East, including a 2018 world-exclusive investigation from the Yemeni island of Socotra. She speaks Levantine Arabic and has lived in Beirut, Cairo, and Washington DC.
