P21 Gallery proudly invites you to Stories for Palestine, the closing ceremony of We Are Not Numbers (WANN) first London exhibition.

 

With a mix of professional storytellers and WANN writers, this special event will honour WANNs' ethos: the power of storytelling and refusal for Palestinians to be reduced to statistics in the news.

 

The ceremony concludes a week-long immersive exhibition featuring the intimate stories of over 350 Palestinian writers written over the past decade.

 

 

SPEAKERS

Dr Rafeef Ziadah

Rafeef Ziadah  is a Palestinian-Canadian scholar and human rights activist. Famous for her poem ‘We Teach Life, sir’, Rafeef is also a renowned spoken word artist

 

Walaa Sabah 
Walaa Sabah is the project manager of We Are Not Numbers. She previously held the position of community outreach and partnership 
officer.In 2022, Walaa won the UK’s prestigious Chevening scholarship and earned a first-class MSC degree in business with 
operations management from Warwick Business School.She works as a freelance journalist.

 

Alice Rothchild 
Alice serves as mentor liaison for We Are Not Numbers. She is an American obstetrician-gynecologist, Palestinian rights activist, and author.

 

Jumana Moon 
Jumana Moon is a storyteller particularly inspired by stories from Muslim folk & sacred tradition.

Nesreen Hussein 
Nesreen N. Hussein is an interdisciplinary theatre and performance scholar, educator, and maker, with artistic background in performance, visual arts, and design. Her work is grounded on the intersections of performance, politics, and activism, and how these inform, and are informed by, understandings of identity, agency and belonging. Her research, writing, and pedagogy engage with epistemologies and histories of the Global South, drawing on post-colonial and decolonial praxes.
