EXHIBITION OPENING NIGHT | "0710 Journeys"
0710 Journeys, features the work of photographer and visual activist Wayne Campbell. His brand 'A Celebration of Demonstration' has over the last 5 years, focused on capturing protests and demonstrations primarily through Wayne's powerful artistic eye and skilled documentary photography.
This powerful collection of beautiful images illuminates the Palestinian protests which took place on the streets of London from November 2023 and more recently, the views, emotions and people of the occupied West Bank in Palestine.
Why is this exhibition necessary?
For years photographers around the world have been using pictures to help tell stories. Through a clear lens, the struggles and joys of our individual and collective journeys are shown before us. Wayne believe's that strongly curated visual activism, acts as a reminder of our humanity and can be viewed as a barometer for
our empathy.
He says 'Our media has become increasingly more polarising and our politics oppressively divisive', so maybe art is best placed to help us navigate through these socially and emotionally difficult moments' and potentially keep us in contact with our shared humanity.
Wayne will be the first black male artist to be featured in an exhibition at P21 gallery . Being embraced by a gallery that traditionally focuses on middle eastern art is a huge honour for Wayne and a palpable testament to the strength of cross cultural collaboration. Even as the world seems to be fragmenting back into opposing polarities, this exhibition reminds us, in so many ways, of the unifying force of shared human experiences.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: To be able to fund our vibrant exhibitions and events, we need to charge a modest £5 ticket price to help cover part of the gallery running costs and overheads. With much of our public and private sponsorship axed, your gift enables us to continue staging thought-provoking art and cultural events. Many thanks for helping independent charitable art venues such as ours.
